The hybrid etching specification refers to the etching processing of nickel-clad materials developed for industrial encoders. By integrating electroforming with etching in a hybrid process, we produce high-precision scales. This achieves dimensions and accuracy that were impossible with conventional etching processes. The shapes include linear scales and disk discs (i.e., rotary slit plates). There are transmissive and reflective types available. The SUS etching specification is a scale for encoders made from stainless steel through photo-etching processing. While it is not intended for high resolution, it can be produced relatively inexpensively. The shapes available are linear scales and disk plates (i.e., rotary slit plates), and they are only transmissive. (Reflective types are available in hybrid etching specifications.)
